In the Joe Sachs translation of Aristotle, his ethics can be reduced into virtue/excellence as proper decision making. It takes a combination of theory and experience to make decisions properly - and here, instead of a "habit" or a "middle path", excellence for Aristotle is an active condition of making the right choices for appropriate situations.
His ethics extend to his politics: a city (which for Aristotle only has the adequate size for human flourishing)'s purpose is to make its citizens virtuous, not just through extraneous traits like having a class of second class citizens do merchantry and crafts (among other things), but also in passing down received wisdom and derived knowledge to next generations. His feasibly ideal city is supposed to be antifragile (as he treats in the book), but as he notes, barely any city lives up to that feasible ideal.
